In 2023, East West Gateway, in partnership with MoDOT St. Louis District staff, initiated a study of the region’s arterial roadways in order to develop a supplemental document to the current standard engineering guidance, MoDOT’s Engineering Policy Guide (EPG). The result is The Blueprint for Arterials, published in June 2024, to help better address safety and the complex array of users and needs on arterial roadways in developed communities.
This document is for MoDOT, county, or municipal roadway planners and engineers throughout the Missouri side of the St. Louis region. Use is optional, but encouraged where appropriate, to add clarity to the various contexts, design tools, and engagement strategies when working in urbanized areas.
