East-West Gateway (EWG) had a call for Local Program project applications for Surface Transportation Block Grant Program – Suballocated (STP-S) and Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program (CMAQ) projects. The project applications were due on February 10, 2022.
STP-S funds can be used for projects such as pavement preservation, highway expansion, congestion mitigation, safety, environmental mitigation, transit, and pedestrian facilities. CMAQ funds can be used for traffic flow improvement, demand management, shared ride services, bicycle/pedestrian facilities, transit vehicles/facilities, and operating assistance for new transit service.
Illinois sponsors submitted 26 STP-S applications requesting $14.2 million in federal funds and 13 CMAQ applications requesting $14.1 million in federal funds. Missouri sponsors submitted 79 STP-S applications requesting $135.3 million in federal funds and 19 CMAQ applications requesting $33.9 million in federal funds.
EWG staff are currently evaluating the project applications and will present the evaluated projects to the Transportation Planning Committee (TPC) for funding recommendations in early May.
