Where We Stand (WWS) tracks the health of the St. Louis region among peer metropolitan areas and provides a consistent yardstick to gauge “where we stand.” The eighth edition, released in November 2018, focuses on three strategic priorities identified by the EWG Board of Directors in May of this year: economic development, workforce development, and crime and safety. This publication shows how St. Louis ranks among the 50 most populous Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA) in the United States — the peer regions — on 130 metrics that pertain to these strategic priorities. An introductory chapter on demographics is also included to provide an overview of the population of St. Louis and the peer regions.
