East-West Gateway’s December 2019 Map of the Month depicts the change in the percent of adults with an associate degree or higher for the most populous 50 metropolitan regions. Overall, the United States has been trending upward with an increase of six percentage points, from 35.2 percent in 2008 to 41.2 percent in 2018. The metro region with the largest increase during this period was San Jose, California with a 9.5 point increase in the percent of adults with an associate degree or higher. The St. Louis region has seen a larger increase than the nation as a whole, increasing 7.3 percentage points, from 36.9 percent in 2008 to 44.1 percent in 2018.
