East-West Gateway’s March 2018 Map of the Month depicts Census Designated Places (CDP) within the East-West Gateway area. CDPs are delineated to provide data for settled concentrations of population that are identifiable by name but are not legally incorporated under the laws of the state in which they are located. The boundaries usually are defined in cooperation with local or tribal officials and generally updated prior to each decennial census. The largest CDP by area and population is Oakville. Located in South St. Louis County, Oakville contains over 36,000 people within its approximately 18 square miles. For more information on CDPs: https://www.census.gov/geo/reference/gtc/gtc_place.html
