East-West Gateway virtually hosted its 56th Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 p.m.
The business meeting began at 1:00 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony. The awards ceremony presented Outstanding Local Government Achievement (OLGA) Awards to honor the extraordinary work of individuals, municipal and county governments/departments, special purpose districts and public educational institutions in the city of St. Louis and Franklin, Jefferson, St. Charles and St. Louis counties in Missouri and Madison, Monroe and St. Clair counties in Illinois.

Afternoon Session
From 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm there was an afternoon panel discussion, “2020 Census Trends: Population, Race & Ethnicity, and Age in the St. Louis Region.” In this session, panelists shared their insights about using and interpreting the recently released 2020 Census data. East-West Gateway staff will presented population trends, with a focus on the changes in race and ethnicities in the United States, the St. Louis MSA, and the peer regions. Professors discussed related research findings and implications for service delivery in the St. Louis region. Representatives of local organizations discussed how census data informs their planning and programming to promote economic development and racial equity.
