East-West Gateway’s December 2022 Map of the Month depicts the estimated percent of adults aged 25 and older with at least a Bachelor’s degree. This includes Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, Professional school degrees, and Doctorate degrees. The East-West Gateway Region overall has an estimated 1,804,998 persons over the age of 25, of which an estimated 677,480 have a Bachelor’s degree or higher level of education or 37.5%.
Among the county-level jurisdictions in the EWG region, the largest number of persons with at least a Bachelor’s degree (315,016) and the largest percentage is in St. Louis County with 45.3%. The smallest estimated number of persons with at least a Bachelor’s degree is in Monroe County with 9,121. The smallest estimated percentage of persons with at least a Bachelor’s degree is in Franklin County with 21.1%. The rest of the counties’ estimated percent of persons with at least a Bachelor’s degree are: St. Charles County (41.8%); city of St. Louis (38.0%); Monroe County (37.1%); St. Clair County (29.6%); Madison County (28.5%); and Jefferson County (22.1%).
