Accommodation and Food Service Workers, April 2020

East-West Gateway’s April 2020 Map of the Month depicts the estimated percentage of workers who are employed in the accommodation and food service industries, by census tract of residence. People who work in these industries live throughout the region, however there are large concentrations of these workers in the cities of East St. Louis, Centreville, and Collinsville in Illinois and in the cities of St. Louis and St. Charles in Missouri. Workers in these industries, along with many others, are currently being heavily impacted by layoffs and furloughs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
