East-West Gateway’s September 2019 Map of the Month depicts the light emitted by the St. Louis region at night as captured by satellite sensors. This data is useful for observing and monitoring light pollution within our region. The data presented is the April 2019 average radiance composite image collected using nighttime satellite data from the Earth Observations Group (EOG) at The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Centers for Environmental Information’s (NOAA/NCEI) Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS).
