The East-West Gateway Council of Governments has an opening for a position as a Short-Range Transportation Planner I. This position reports to the Transportation Improvement Program Coordinator and has general responsibility for undertaking one or more technical components of the development of the region’s Transportation Improvement Program. The position works closely with local public agencies, transportation providers, and state department of transportations to program and monitor transportation projects. The selected candidate will gather and analyze data, and prepare reports.
The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of the principles and practices of urban and regional transportation planning, related to the following disciplines: transportation policy analysis, transportation project evaluation, and transportation project programming. Experience with spreadsheet and database software applications is required, and familiarity with Federal metropolitan planning requirements is highly desirable.
A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or in a directly related field and at least one (1) year of related professional experience is required. A graduate degree may substitute for one year of professional experience. The salary range for this position begins at $36,756.00 annually, with actual starting salary based on background and experience.
